Artwork created for the Ozu season at BFI Southbank. This year marks the 120th anniversary of the Japanese filmmaker’s birth, and this film season marked the occasion by exploring his dissection of the family life.
The season artwork comprises a family of characters that appeared in his work, continuing the theme of family life which appeared so heavily in his films. Graphic shapes and geometric lines sit alongside the imagery, which are inspired by the natural patterns and clean lines that feature in the traditional interior sets of his films.
